  3. The result

Organizers can hold their events and exhibitions online, and visitors can take part from wherever they are.

What the system does.

The parts of the system that made the difference for the client and the people who use it.

The challenge

Traditional exhibitions are tied to a physical hall. Exhibitors book a booth, visitors travel in, and the show exists only for the days the doors are open. We built a virtual exhibition platform for India that takes that limit away from event and exhibition organizers.

Our client is an online events and exhibitions business in India. Its customers are organizers who wanted to run their events online, so that attending no longer depended on being able to reach a venue.

In a country of India's size, that limit is real. A visitor in a smaller town may care about a show held in a metro city, but travel time and cost decide whether they go. Organizers, in turn, only reach the people who make it through the door.

What we built: a virtual exhibition platform for India

We built a web platform for running events and exhibitions online. Organizers use it to hold their events and their exhibitions on the web, rather than only at a physical venue. Visitors open the show online and take part from wherever they are.

The platform is built around two kinds of gathering, and one shared promise to the audience:

  • Online events that organizers run on the web instead of only in a hall.

  • Online exhibitions that visitors attend without traveling.

  • Attendance from anywhere, so a show's audience is not capped by the distance to the venue.

For the business behind it, this is a product to offer organizers, not a one-off website for a single show. Each organizer brings an event, and the platform gives that event an online home.

How it works day to day

Take an organizer preparing an exhibition. Instead of planning every part of it around one hall and the days it is booked, they put the exhibition on the platform, and it opens to visitors on the web.

A visitor hears about the show and opens it online. There is no ticket to a distant city to book and no day off to arrange. They take part from home, from the office or from another state.

For the organizer, the change is in who the audience can be. A show is no longer limited to the people who live within reach of the venue.

The result

Organizers can now hold their events and exhibitions online, and visitors can take part from wherever they are. The business has a web platform to offer organizers across India, built for exactly that job.

We are not publishing usage numbers for this project. What the platform makes possible is reach: an event can be attended by anyone with an internet connection, not only by those near the hall.

What the research says

  • The audience is already online. India had 1,073.44 million broadband subscribers at the end of April 2026, and 554.41 million of its 1,337.54 million telephone subscribers were rural (TRAI press release 63/2026). Many of the people an organizer wants to reach live far from the big exhibition centers.

  • Most visitors will arrive on a phone. Statcounter's data for September 2026 shows 77.3% of web traffic in India coming from mobile devices, against 22.1% from desktops (Statcounter). Visitors open the show in a browser, with nothing to install first.

  • Live video runs in the browser. Can I use reports that browsers supporting WebRTC peer-to-peer connections make up 97.01% of global usage (Can I use). WebRTC is part of the platform's stack, so real-time audio and video can run in the visitor's browser without plugins.

Where AI fits next

AI is not part of the platform; two ideas would fit it well. AI could recommend exhibitors or sessions to each visitor based on the interests they state when they sign up. After an event, it could group and summarize visitor questions, so organizers see what people wanted to know.

Planning something similar?

Before you build a virtual event or exhibition platform, it helps to answer four questions:

  1. Will you run only your own events on it, or offer it to other organizers as a product?

  2. What should a visitor be able to do online that they would do at a physical booth?

  3. How will visitors register, and what should organizers learn about them afterward?

  4. Does each event stand alone, or should one platform host many organizers at once?

Not sure whether you need a web application or a website? Our guide covers the difference. From there, see how we plan web application builds and custom software, or browse our media and events work.

Common questions

What is a virtual exhibition platform?

It is web software that lets organizers hold events and exhibitions online. Visitors open the show on the web and take part from wherever they are, instead of traveling to a hall.

Who uses this virtual exhibition platform in India?

Event and exhibition organizers in India, who reach it through an online events and exhibitions business, and the visitors who attend their shows online.

Do public bodies in India run trade fairs online?

Some do. APEDA, the agricultural and processed food export body, held its first virtual trade fair on March 10 to 12, 2021, with 313 exhibitors registered and 128 stalls set up, according to the Press Information Bureau.

What should you decide before building a virtual event platform?

Decide whether it serves your own events or other organizers, what visitors must be able to do online, how they register, and whether one installation should host many organizers at once.

Can one virtual exhibition platform host many organizers?

This one is offered by an online events business as a product for organizers across India. Each organizer brings an event, and the platform gives that event an online home.
